چکیده

Long-chain (≥C20) polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA), including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5n-3), arachidonic (ARA, 20:4n-6) and docosahexaenoic (DHA, 22:6n-3), are essential in multiple physiological processes, especially during early development of vertebrates. LC-PUFA biosynthesis is achieved by two key families enzymes, acyl desaturases (Fads) elongation very long-chain (Elovl). The present study determined the expression patterns genes encoding (fads1 fads2) elongases (elovl2 elovl5) involved life-stages tropical gar Atractosteus tropicus. We further analyzed profiles A. tropicus to evaluate impact Fads Elovl enzymatic activities. Specific oligonucleotides were designed from transcriptome perform qPCR (quantitative polymerase chain reaction) on embryonic larval stages, along with several organs (intestine, white muscle, brain, liver, heart, mesenteric adipose, kidney, gill, swim bladder, stomach, spleen) collected juvenile specimens. Fatty content feeds stages analyzed. Results show that fads1, fads2, elovl2 elovl5 was detected peaks day 15 post hatching, which could be related transcriptional dietary factors. Moreover, fads2 showed a higher intestine, while suggesting activates its biosynthetic machinery produce ARA, EPA DHA satisfy demands at crucial developmental milestones development.

Helminth parasites of the tropical gar, Atractosteus tropicus Gill, from Tabasco, Mexico.

A total of 8 helminth species were recorded in an examination of 43 tropical gar, Atractosteus tropicus Gill, collected at the Pantanos de Centla Biosphere Reserve, Tabasco, Mexico. The parasite species included 1 adult trematode, 3 metacercariae, 1 cestode, 1 adult nematode, and 2 nematode larvae. Six of these 8 species were rare, with low prevalence (< 17%) and abundance (< 1.0 helminths per ...

Use of Potato Starch in Diets of Tropical Gar (Atractosteus tropicus, Gill 1863) Larvae

Tropical gar, Atractosteus tropicus, is a carnivorous fish species from Southern México with high value and acceptance in local markets. Therefore, the present study aims to spare proteins in diets for larviculture of this species. An experiment was performed using three different experimental diets with increasing carbohydrate levels based on potato starch (S) and decreasing protein content (P...

Expression of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LC-PUFA) biosynthesis genes during zebrafish Danio rerio early embryogenesis.

Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) are essential in important physiological processes, many of which are particularly vital during embryonic development. This study investigated the expression of genes encoding enzymes involved in LC-PUFA biosynthesis, namely fatty acyl desaturase (Fad) and Elovl5- and Elovl2-like elongases, during early embryonic development of zebrafish. First,...
